Audi is a German car maker.  Audi brand cars range from crossover sports utility vehicles to supermini small cars in a full range of prices and body styles.

Volkswagen has positioned Audi as being the premium car brand within its full car range.  That is, Audi to Volkswagen is like Cadillac to Chevy or Lexus to Toyota.
