Oh What Choice! 6 Different Options For UK Garden Summer Houses

Posted August 31, 2011 at 5:58 am

Maintaining a beautiful garden during the summer often requires the right tools and equipment. Devices like a lawnmower, clippers, fertilizer and mulch, seeds, and pest control products are just some of the objects needed to maintain a healthy, beautiful garden and lawn. However, it is difficult to store many of these items in one location. It is often advised by experts that a gardener invest in a summer house for their garden. A summer house is a quaint, small shed located near or adjacent to the garden. The final decision lies with you, however there are six good reasons to buy one of these summer homes that will each likely enhance the beauty of the garden.

1. Storage
This is the most popular reason to own a summer house for a garden. Although it may depend in size, the summer house is the one location that can store all gardening equipment. Many summer houses can also be built to add more than just garden storage. Supplemental additions including a deck, game room, and storage place for athletic and sports equipment can also be added into a summer house. Some summer houses can even have one lone guest room attached to it.

2. Security
Security is needed to protect large pieces of equipment that could be stolen because of their worth. For example, having a state of the art riding mower might be an excellent investment for a garden, but a potential thief might want the mower for their own purposes. Scenarios like this will not happen with a summer house bought with various security devices, such as a locking door or a security system. Security will especially be important if non-garden supply items are stored in the summer house, especially an extra bedroom or deck.

3. Aesthetics
Depending on the style of the garden, many summer homes may look aesthetically pleasing adjacent to the garden. Many of these summer houses come with beautiful designs and architectural features that supplement the garden's attractiveness. Features like bright colors or a unique design can really make the garden leap out to neighbors and people passing by. This is especially true if a deck with furniture is added to the summer house. A comfortable and beautiful deck can allow summer outdoor sitting every evening.

4. Environmental
To keep a garden fresh and beautiful, the use of pesticides or certain plant killers may need to be applied. Even the safest chemicals could fall in the wrong hands, such as children, or pose a hazard to animals or the environment if the chemicals leak. Having a locked summer house to store all chemicals used in the garden will keep these chemicals out of the environment or from being accidentally used consumed or used by children.

5. Space
Removing the gardening tools directly from the home and into a summer house frees up space within the garage or other part of the house. Having everything from the lawn mower to plant tools in the garage can clutter up the space. The summer house is out of the way, outside, and usually catered to store specific equipment, like a lawn mower space or a hanger wall to hang tools. Added features like a game room or other storage can free up more space in the home as well.

6. Location
Probably the simplest reason to have a summer house is because it will be located right near the garden. Unlike conventional storage spaces, like the garage, the summer house can be placed right next or near the garden with no problems. A gardener just has to go to one convenient location in order to access and use their equipment for the day.
