Can You Have A Solar Power System In Your Home?

Posted November 27, 2011 at 9:09 am

Solar energy has been with us since the beginning and it will be here forever. As a result of the growing cost of electricity, the use of alternative energy sources has increased. Thousands of folks throughout the world have opted to use solar energy. More homes are nowadays utilizing solar energy as a result of the advances in technology, and improvements in the systems each year. With only a few solar batteries, and even a little amount of sunlight, you can get plenty of electricity for your house.

One issue is that many homes are not constructed to take full advantage of sunshine. More efficient designs today, however, have made it simpler to generate electricity without requiring a lot of sunlight. The solar panels today are set up at a steeper angle which creates electricity in a more efficient manner even if the homes are not positioned well. Most solar power systems have an effective rail system where the solar panels can slide to take advantage of the best position for the sun. Moreover, it is set up for expansion later on if needed.

Before you install a solar panel, you will need to know your electricity requirements. Once you have determined your home's power consumption, you will know how big a solar panel system you will need. Depending on your abilities and resources, it's a good idea to start small, and leave room to expand later on. If you have it set up correctly, you can find your expenses drop by 80% within a year. With just a basic solar power system, you can work on the outdoor lighting system, and afterwards increase your system, and move up to the interior electricity.

The most important component in your system is the inverter. You must be sure that you have the correct size as the inverter will convert DC to AC. If the size you pick is wrong, then your solar panel system won't work. Even with a smaller solar panel system, it is better to have a larger inverter, so you will only need to wire them in, when you expand your system. The inverter must be connected by a professional electrician, as electricity is hazardous, and you will need one to pass inspections. The hardest part of setting up your solar panel system is connecting it to the electricity in your home. Stay away from electricity, unless you have had training in installing electric systems.

State and federal governments are providing incentives for homeowners to put in a solar energy system. You can have your own environmentally friendly energy system without using much of your own money. If you want to adopt a green lifestyle, this is a wonderful thing to do.
